Geocache Description:

Located just off of a hiking trail at Laurel Point recreation area on Raccoon Mountain. The walk to the cache has only moderate elevation changes, and about a mile in length.

This is a letterbox cache, and it follows the tradition of using clues to find the cache as opposed to coordinates. The posted coords are bogus and would only take you for a swim!

First you will need to find your way to the top of Raccoon Mountain and make your way to Laurel Point. Look for the parking area for Laurel Falls/Golden Glory Overlook, park there.

Walk down the trail until you get to a "T" where you will also see a metal post where the brass square used to be. Turn to the left and follow the trail until you hear the waterfall.

Soon you will see a prominent trail junction. Stay on the main trail, now identified as the River Gorge Trail.

Here is where you need to start paying attention. From the wooden sign at the trail junction, you need to continue down the main trail on a heading of approximately 255 degrees until you are approximately 350 feet from the junction you just passed (as the crow flies.) At this point you should be at a very prominent "V" next to the trail.

Stand in the trail next to the "V" and proceed off trail on a heading of 155 degrees (inline with the "V") for 85 feet to the cache.

You are looking for an ammo box. The cache is not aggressivly hidden because muggles are doubtful, but please hide it as best you can.
