Ammo can cache is hidden at Mill Creek Lake Park in Amherst County. From the Amherst traffic circle, take 60 West approx. 5.3 miles. Turn right onto Rt. 778 & drive about 2 miles. Turn right onto Rt. 610 (Turkey Mountain Rd). Follow the signs to Mill Creek Lake. Park hours are from sun-up until 1 hour after sunset.
Park in the parking lot and go on foot from: N 37°39.713, W 079°04.949 (short hike, relatively easy about .15 mile) Be careful on the footpath, there is some erosion.
This is the first cache we've placed, and it marks our 5th wedding anniversary. Original contents include a "goody bag" for the first-to-find and various other trade items. Also bags for CITO, log book and pencil, and a disposable camera (Please leave us your "mug shot.")
We also left Klaatu the alien hiding here, hoping to continue his journey WEST to Roswell, NM
You may have some muggles to deal with if the fish are jumpin! Please "trash-out," since nearby fishermen obviously DONT. Enjoy the lake and the butterflies, it's a nice spot for a picnic/cookout too.
PARK INFO: 190 acre watershed lake, open for fishing only (no gasoline powered boats allowed). Boat ramp, picnic tables & grills, play area, restroom facilities (for the courageous or truly desperate!)
