  A Praia de S. Lourenço, localizada entre a pacata povoação que lhe deu o nome e Ribamar, é uma praia com características muito especiais. Possuidora de um amplo areal, mas encaixada entre altas arribas rochosas, onde desagua o Rio Safarujo, a sua areia é invulgarmente grosseira, consequência do elevado hidrodinamismo do mar desta região. Ainda assim, é uma das mais concorridas praias do concelho de Mafra, sendo muito procurada pelos habitantes da região, turistas e colónias de férias.
Sobre a arriba Sul encontra-se o Forte de Santa Susana (ou S. Lourenço), mandado edificar por ordem de D. João IV, para a defesa da costa e do rio Safarujo (navegável, naquela época) contra as incursões da esquadra do Duque de Maqueda, a mando do Rei Filipe de Espanha, e de piratas argelinos e tunisinos. Este forte voltou a ter primordial importância durante a Guerra Peninsular quando, entre 1809 e 1810, foram construídas as Linhas de Torres, derradeiro reduto defensivo de Lisboa contra a terceira vaga invasora do Exército Francês. A segunda destas linhas estendia-se precisamente desde este forte, em Ribamar, até à zona da Póvoa de Santa Iria, junto ao Tejo. Actualmente é utilizado como casa de férias para elementos da GNR.
 A cache:
Esta cache, concebida para ser procurada em família, inclusivamente com crianças, é uma multi-cache que se inicia no Forte de Santa Susana (coordenadas iniciais da cache). Neste local, que deverá ser visitado contornando a sua muralha (caso o edifício esteja habitadoé melhor não subir à muralha), é necessário ter cuidado com as crianças, por causa do perigo de queda nas falésias.
Neste local deverá contar as canhoeiras, cuja base ainda se consegue identificar sobre a muralha do forte. O seu número corresponderá a A.
Substitua A nas coordenadas seguintes e obterá a localização da cache final.

  The S. Lourenço Beach, located between the quiet village that gave the name to it and Ribamar, is a beach with special characteristics. With a large sandy beach, but encased between rocky cliffs, where the Safarujo river opens out to sea, its sand is unusually coarse, a consequence of the high hydrodynamics of this region’s sea. Still it is one of the most sought after by the local inhabitants and tourists alike.
In the Southern cliffs we can find the Fort of Santa Susana (or S. Lourenço), constructed by order of King João IV, for the defence of the coast and the Safarujo river (navigable, at that time) against the incursions of the Duke of Maqueda’s squadrons, sent by King Filipe of Spain, and Algerian and Tunisians pirates. This fort had primordial importance during the Peninsular War when, between 1809 and 1810, the Lines of Towers had been constructed, the last defensive redoubt of Lisbon against the third invasion of the French Army. The second of these lines was extended precisely from this fort, in Ribamar to the Tejo river, North of Lisbon. Currently it is used as a holiday place for elements of the GNR (a Portuguese police corps).
The cache:
This cache, conceived to be searched with the family, inclusively with children, is a multi-cache that starts in the Fort of Santa Susana (initial coordinates of cache). In this place, that deserves to be visited skirting it’s wall (if the building is inhabited, is better not to go up to the wall), it is necessary to take very good care of children due to the high cliffs nearby.
In this place you will have to count the cannon places, whose base is still possible to identify over the wall of the fort. Its number will correspond to A. Substitute A in the following coordinates and you’ll get the final cache location.

The cache is hidden behind a small wall but, please, don’t step over it to proceed with the search.

This is part of a 6 caches set, placed between the Mil Regos Fortress and the S. Lourenço beach. It is possible to cover the trail in either direction, over the cliffs or through the beaches and rocks, depending on the tide.
