Crystal Cascades is a waterfall in the Big Snowy Mountains of Central Montana.
Crystal Cascades is in the Crystal Lake Recreational Area in the Big Snowy Mountains. The turn off is approximately 8 miles west of Lewistown on highway 87.
The trailhead has a parking lot at N46 48.759 W109 29.744.
The hike (one way) is approximately 3.5 miles, 1000 vertical feet and 1.5 hours. The trail is a maintained forest service trail, easy to moderate in difficulty.
The waterfall is pretty. A spring comes out of a small cave under a cliff and tumbles approximate 100 feet down a series of ledges.
The cache is an ammo can, initially well stocked with prizes. There is room for trading so bring some trade goods.
It is hard to get accurate coordinates due to the canyon and tree cover. I averaged multiple readings.
PLEASE BE SURE TO BRING THE HINT WITH YOU IN CASE YOU HAVE TROUBLE WITH GPS RECEPTION.
I am a newbie, so constructive comments and suggestions from geocachers are welcome.
