The Chattanooga Audubon Society (Audubon Acres) is a delightful
wildlife area less than 10 minutes from a major mall. They have
been extremely friendly and receptive to geocaching and
letterboxing and there are 10 of these to be hunted on the grounds,
plus numerous others nearby.
This time of year, they could use some help clearing and
cleaning the trails, before the school year gets into full swing
and school groups start coming. Saturday August 27th from 9:30 --
12:30 we will be helping them with general trash pick-up and light
trail maintenance. Please bring gloves, long-pants and long-sleeves
are recommended. Trash bags and some pruning tools will be
provided; if you have a favorite set of clippers, branch loppers,
etc (anything suitable for cutting privet and blackberries!),
please bring that too! CAS will provide water and sodas all morning
and will provide pizza around noon. (Any special dietary
limitations, please let me know...)
A Jeep & TB-exchange is welcome, and feel free to spend as
much of the afternoon hiking the trails and enjoying the scenery as
you would like!
