Osgood Hallowed
Night Cache
Welcome!!
This cache is
intended to be found after dark. Flashlight will be required
to complete this cache or a very observant person and a little
luck. Coordinates will bring you to a location where, with a
flashlight, you will be searching for reflective trail
markers; two (2) reflective tacks close together and your
heading toward the cache, one (1) reflective tack and you are
heading back to where you began. Be advised, there is no
trail yet (this cache is close to my home therefore if a "cacher's'
trail" becomes obvious I will move the tacks and the tacks only)
and by following the reflective markers approximately 80 yards into
the woods only then will you come to a tree with 5 reflective
tacks. That tree marks the beginning of your search for the
cache which will be hidden within 25 feet. Then using your
caching sense and your flashlight, you will reveal an ammo box in
which to trade items and sign the log.
You will park in
the middle of nowhere (Western Ridge Road, Palermo) at
N44 27.557 W069
26.042 (Parking to be had on
the side of the road). From there you will have a very short
walk to the coordinates up a gated road to a secluded spot.
Remember the Cache name and please respect the property. Once
at the given coordinates feel free to put away your GPSr as you
will now rely totally on your sense of sight aided by your trusty
flashlight. Once you locate the reflective tacks remembering
`2, towards', `1, away' you will have a short bushwhack with a
fairly easy walk (no blow downs or stumps) until you encounter 5
tacks in the plus (+) formation. Begin your search, I
purposely chose an area with an abundance of hiding places for an
Ammo can, good luck and most of all enjoy.
If possible I
would like to use Halloween Themed trade items for this
cache. (I had little in the way of Halloween stuff but will
be stocking it regularly when I manage to find
some).
Hint: Remember to have fresh batteries in your flashlight and
your GPSr. Remember the geocaching mantra, "Do no Harm" and try to
leave the area as you found it. Makes for a better caching
experience for the next person or group, not only for this cache
but all caches. Remember to CITO. Also, if you have problems
finding the cache, mark the coordinates so you can try to find it
during the day. I'm intentionally being obtuse, I figured it was
better than leaving the Hints blank. Hope you enjoy this cache
