How Geocaching Works

Geocache Description:

It is possible to park very close to the site. Flat terrain.

On Sept. 12, 1835 William Hooper cleared 12 acres, near this site, and planted the first sugar cane ever in the Hawaiian Islands. This mill started with the large stone, Chinese-style, sugar grinders in the mill. Plantation cut-cane was hauled to this mill by ox-cart up until 1882, when sugar cane mill train tracks were built.

This cache is next to the Old Koloa Sugar Mill – and is named in honor of the beloved Roosters that wake us up every morning… and continue their crowing throughout the day – every day!

Original cache contents include Hawaiian tourist trinkets and a few other items and is the launching point for Freedom Frog Travel bug who wants to visit ever state in the Americas.

Aloha, and happy caching!

This site has a bit of trash around it. Request: If every Geocacher took out just one piece of trash as they exit - the area would be cleaned up in a few weeks! Mahalo!
