Geocache Description:

This is a place of business so it was kind of hard to convince them to give me approval. All they ask is not to disturb the business' as well as not to disturb any of the landscaping

This house was built in the 1890's Phillup Buskirk. He was the president of the First National Bank of Monroe County at that time. He wanted this house to be immaculate and opne of the nicest homes of that time. He lived here for quite some time until he died while having lunch in this house. Later, the home went through several owners such as William Showers and then in 1980 it was turned into a resturaunt called "he Porticos". They were here for twelve years. During that time they were supposedly haunted by two children. Rumours of noises coming from upstairs like childrens laughter and balls bouncing were always around. Some of their guests would comment on the children and the owners would have no idea what they were talking about. Other times it was said that smoke would be coming from the roof area causing the fire department to show up. When they arrived their would not be any sign of a fire. According to folk legend, there was a house on this very lot years before it was built that housed a couple and two children that tragically burnt down and the family perrished. Whether ghosts, apparitions, or that chilling sensation moving up your spine, you are sure to find that here. Happy Caching-Ichabod Gorey
