Geocache Description:

A dog-themed cache that has plenty for the whole family.

Waterfalls in Silver Spring? You bet! Our Golden Retreiver, Herr Helmut Schmidt, loved hiking here,
especially the nice relaxing soak. While less spectacular than the gorge at Burnt Mills, these 'falls' are
secluded; you should be able to enjoy them all to yourself.

Park at N39 01.76 W76 58.95.

Your challenge is finding a sound trail. The first hundred feet can be guesswork, but you should be able to catch one of the trails. One (of several) entries into the woods is near N39 01.796 W76 58.876, carpeted by downed tree cuttings. Kids who don't feel like caching could play at the playground there.

Keep your eyes open; don't let your pointer make you spend your day bushwhacking. Any of the trails should work your way down and around to the cache site eventually.

There's ivy, some thorns if you walk into them, mosquitos, spider webs. Some hopping over downed trees. Deer. It's alot like - the woods in Washington! We prefer good soles and long pants. The Geodogs love it.

The container is a medium sized plastic box, a touch smaller than an ammo box. It has dog-themed trades.

Please bring your dog-related bricabrac to our cache, and record your Geodog story in our log! Woof!

As you exit the woods, admire the abandoned par-3 golf course. Part of the former Naval Ordnance Lab,
situated on 1,000 acres acquired in 1944. Now part of the GSA's FDA Research Center, sporting new buildings.

The old facilities included a premier underwater mine testing chamber.

Kudos to Herd fan 84, FTF, and JohnandSpirit, 2ndTFandFDTF!
