Geocache Description:

Interesting short walk in on local walkway around the edge of the estuary.

New site as a replacement for an old cache. No need to get muddy to find this one, but the mud’s real close.

This whole area used to be a nice sandy beach where the local kids came to swim. After the motorway was put across the estuary in 1965, the area started to silt up and became infested with mangroves.

The locals now want to remove the mangroves and erect tidal gates under the motorway, which will create a tidal lake with sandy beaches and lots of recreational opportunities at the weekends. Have a look at the website www.pipspapakura.org.nz and see what this area could be like.

The cache is at the edge of a short walkway, No need to get muddy, climb cliffs or enter private land, but you will need to get real close to the mud and get low.
Look for the final remains of a small boat about 2m away.
