Geocache Description:

This cache is a 2" x 1/2" red anodized aluminum keychain cache. There's only room for a log, so please bring something to write with.

Originally, the town of Brightwaters was developed by Thomas Ackerson and for a time even became somewhat of an artist colony around the beginning of the 20th century. (It had been swampland purchased two centuries prior in the Mowbray purchase.) The name Brightwaters (sunlit ponds of bright waters) is a loose translation of the Native American name Wohseepee. The lakes were quite the ambitious project that were at the source end of a 400' canal built by the Ackersons. The Ackerson's construction company went bankrupt with the onset of the Great Depression, and the lakes and park were donated to the new incorporated village. Now that park is yours to stroll. Be careful of the hours (closes at 9pm) and watch for the no parking signs. It's not really a very difficult hide. There is no bushwhacking, but bug spray in the summer might be wise. Bring a camera if you have one, as the park is unusual (as far as parks go, it's not what we'd call a "regular" park.) Beware of muggles going in, but once at the cache location, you should be fine unless someone's fishing. Lots of ducks and geese to see here. Enjoy the stroll to this cache.
