This is one of our favorite local parks. We had a cache here way back but it didn’t last terribly long and before it was muggled someone placed a cache within 444 feet of ours and that honked us off a bit. We don’t know why, really, that nobody else has placed a cache here except that there aren’t many active cachers in this area.
This is a straight forward traditional cache but you are going to have to put forth a little effort this time. The closest we could park was .47 miles. There are also some elevation changes (read: long hill on the way back). If you canoe you can get within about 400 feet! There is a well marked trail most of the way from the parking lot. The last 20 feet or so is quite thick with itch weed but we are trying for some longevity here since the last cache we had at this park didn’t last very long, so don’t say you weren’t warned - WEAR LONG PANTS! Obviously, it will be easier in the winter but not any shorter of a walk.
There really isn’t anything that we would call a FTF prize but you still get bragging rights or some such. Enjoy.
