Geocache Description:

Well the original CalTrain – Bayshore (GCHDWB) cache was partially melted in a fire so I've placed a new cache nearby.

The area South of the station for many years was a main switching yard for the Southern Pacific train line. After the Peninsula Joint Powers Board took over the system almost all of the rails were removed. Unfortunately it will be difficult to use the land due to years of pollution from the maintenance yard so it remains a large flat open space used mostly by folks walking and running their dogs.

Occasionally you’ll find horse tracks. I’ve never actually seen them when the Grand National isn’t running but the tracks tell the story.

The area is GREAT for dogs and their owners. Almost no broken glass or other sharp objects AND Jack Rabbits to chase.

To access the cache it is easiest to park at the station (N 37 42.575 W 122 24.100) and take the elevator to cross the tracks.
