Geocache Description:

This cache is going to be a bit difficult to find, only because your GPSr will be telling you bushwhacking is required much earlier than it actually is. Follow the trail and keep on the ever-changing trail until it ends…….going 180 degress from where your receiver is telling you to go. Then, and only then, engage your geocaching skills and think before you leap into the woods where your receiver typically looses its’ accuracy.

This park is MNCPPC land - please be gentle. Further information is located at http://www.mc-ppc.org/rules/index.shtm. The Park is closed at dusk and the Park Manager has requested we do not drive on the unimproved roads; please stay on the main road and parking areas with your vehicles. The above coordinates will take you to the middle of three enclosed garden areas in the park. Please take the time to look within the gardens and enjoy this beautiful area.

At the coordinates you will find a small garden containing a rock with a brass plaque attached. To obtain the coordinates of the cache take the name of the person on the plaque and make a 1 by n matrix. The following example uses the name Joe Car. Make the length of Row One contain as many cells as there are letters in the name, and place the numbers 1, 2…..n in the row.

Example Joe Car = 1 2 3 4 5 6

1 2 3 4 5 6

Add Row Two and place the name in the row.

1 2 3 4 5 6
J O E C A R

Add Row Three and enter the alphabetic number associated with each letter, e.g. A=1, J=10, Z=26 in its corresponding cell.

1 2 3 4 5 6
J O E C A R
10 15 5 3 1 18

With the matrix completed you now have the ability to use the numbers to compute an equation. When trying to compute an equation ALWAYS interchange the alphabetic number from Row Three for the number from Row One, e.g., 1=10, 2=15, ……... 6=18. The equation will identify numbers from Row One.

Using the above example the equation for one number of a coordinate = 2*4/3. For 2*4/3 interchange the numbers from the matrix 15*3/5.... 15*3=45.... 45/5=9 The correct answer is 9.

Now using the name obtained from the plaque, make a matrix and fill in the cells as described above and compute the following equations:

The location of the cache is at the following: N39.0A.BCD 077.0E.FGH

A=2

BCD=[(1+2+5+10)*8]+6. The number will be three digits in length.

E=(5+7)/10.

FGH= 2*7. The number will be three digits in length.

On your hike to the cache you will pass a large placard with information about Newmantown. Please take a moment to read the information.
