Geocache Description:

This is a 3 part multi-cache that ends in a park. The park is open from dawn until dusk.

1) Begin your journey at the above coordinates. 23rd headstone in the 3rd row.
Add 898 to age at death to obtain: N 42.02.xxx
Add 874 to age at death to obtain: W 072.34.xxx

2) Look for the year the battle of Lake George took place.
Subtract 1058 from the year to obtain: N 42.03.xxx
Subtract 1117 from the year to obtain: W 072.34.xxx

3) The final cache is a small cylinder. This container is too small for trades. Please note that the pencil found inside is NOT a trade.

Enter the park off Laurel St and park at N 42.03.659, W 072.34.503. (After finding the cache, check out the little bridge before leaving the park.)

Proceed on the path heading in a northwesterly direction from the parking lot. Because of the excessive amount of GPS bounce in this area, I’m going to give more extensive directions. Continue to follow the trail. Just before the curve you will notice a faint trail to the right, up the hill. The cache is less than 25 feet from the trail. Only minimal bushwhacking is required.

Beware of muggles as this is a very busy area with children playing and many people walking their dogs.

This park was originally part of the Longmeadow water district. It was designed by the landscape architect Frederick Law Olmstead during the depression years and was never completed to his design. Additional details are available on the sign at the entrance of the park near Rte 5. This is a small park. Please take the time to explore the entire area while you’re there – it’s worth the effort.
