Broken Dreams Traditional Cache
Boris and Natasha: The geocaching model has changed to one of numbers and competition versus outdoor discovery and fun. Too many people are "finding" caches and "discovering" trackables without visiting a cache. I no longer wish to contribute to a "sport" that people are now doing at home on their computers rather than out in nature. I will not give them one more opportunity to add a notch to their competitive belt.

This one is pretty easy to find if you don't mind trouncing through the brush.
The cache overlooks someone's broken dream of having a nice mountain business. There used to be a building across the road that was supposed to be a golf course, club house, ice/roller skating rink and minature golf course. It was started without the proper financing to complete the project. The golf course opened, but they couldn't keep it green in the middle of a drought. The minature golf course also opened, but nobody came up to Mt. Charleston to play minature golf. Bad idea + limited capital = broken dreams.
It was announced on November 19, 2005 that the Forest Service is buying the broken dreams property for $15 million and will be developing the property into a visitor's center, interpretative center, transportation center (shuttles up to the mountain) and parking lot. No date was given for when this all might happen.
