After a drive or
ride along some very basic roads (single track, mostly. From
the west there's a ford to cross too) you'll find parking
'not too far' from the memorial and an easy walk on badly
marked footpaths (try the edge of 'town' to the east) to the
right area. To actually reach the needle you'll need to step
off the official footpath by 20yrds but when I visited there
was a clear path to it. Please treat crops with respect and
don't make your own route to it! On one side you'll discover
that the obelisk was erected, in memory of a Lady, by Sir
Thomas Mostyn Bart, MP. There are three dates (which don't
quite add up?) 18AB, 180C and 18D0. Take your numbers
and stuff them into this to find the final location:
N51
56.(B+D-C)(((BxBxBxB)+D)xD)
W001
09.(A+B+B)((DxD)-A)C.
Footpaths will take you the right way. Good
luck and happy hunting!
