Ben & Grace's Used Car Spectacular Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

Lumberjack Tom: Alas! It looks like "Grand Theft Auto" has happened upon this cache in the last month or so. I hate to lose this ammo box, as it was given to me by our wonderful caching friends, Ben & Grace. It served us well, though, but it's probably time for this one to go on the shelf anyway. Thank you for being the fun cache you were, old friend. And thanks, too, to Ben & Grace.

Geocache Description:

Ammo box located off one of the trails located at Locust Grove. Park in visitor parking and walk east to trailhead defined by woodchips. Light bushwhacking only (30').

Friends and neighbors, do we have a deal for you! Just drive, push or carry that old Matchbox, Hot Wheels or similar vehicle into our lot and exchange it at no cost for the car of your dreams! This isn't some gimmick, nosirreee. We need your old, miniature bucket of bolts in order to receive advance inventory credit, tax advantages, dealer reverse rebates and all kinds of other things that we couldn't explain to you anyway once we suckered you into our showrooms.

The upshot is that we have cars, cars, cars, and we know that you'll accept virtually any halfway plausible rationalization as to why you should obtain one from us. So hurry on down. We're dying for your business today and would be completely appalled if we earned your trust for tomorrow!

Okay, enough of the sales pitch. This cache is all about miniature cars of the Matchbox type. Back in May at the INKY event I was completely caught off guard by a retirement recognition. At that gettogether I was given many great mementos that I will remember dearly for a long time. One of the things I was given was the prettiest large ammo box I've ever seen. That came from Ben & Grace. It was painted a beautiful British racing green and was full of miniature cars of all kinds, as well as some other things. I've looked at that box lovingly almost every day since then. I knew the time would arrive when I would have to part with it, but I just didn't want to let it go. It's just too pretty!

Well, today I bit the bullet and decided to place it, pretty or not. That's what ammo boxes are for, isn't it?

I knew this box deserved a special place, however, so after checking out several spots, I decided the trails at Locust Grove would do it justice. That's where it is now, awaiting discovery.

Ben & Grace put a LOT of small cars into this 50 caliber can, so you will have many models and colors to choose from. All I ask is that if you take a car, please leave a car. I guess you can say that this is a type of exchange cache. There are some other items in the can you can trade for, too. If you don't want to trade anything, just sign the log and remove your old jalopy from the premises before we add it to our dealer stock.

Many thanks to Ben & Grace for giving me this wonderful ammo box and its contents. This cache is dedicated to you!
