The SQ in the cache name above signifies
Spirit Quest, a project by the Northwest Ohio Geocachers to
distinguish those caches that are set in cemeteries or memorial
gardens. This cache is part of that series created by NWOGEO
members to highlight cemeteries in the area. Please be
respectful of the area, and observe the posted hours which are
sunrise to sunset. For more information, visit this link on our
website.
I rated the overall difficulty on this one a 3.5 because of the
spooky and terror levels that can be involved. Legends about this
old cemetery are vast and vary depending on who you ask. Everyone
who I have talked to about it all say it is VERY haunted by some
extremely unsettled and unhappy spirits. I will be doing some
research on this one and will post what I come up with at a later
date. For now, be advised it is not for the faint hearted. DO
NOT DO THIS ONE AT NIGHT. Not only is it illegal (law
states that graveyards are open from sunrise to sunset), but you
also may find youself in a situation that you don't want to be in,
possibly including fast running and screaming-in-horror away from
the cemetery. Many people have reported that they have seen
specters, lights, glowing eyes, various sounds and more here at
night. Angry spirits are not something to be taken lightly. From
what I have been told about this place, it's no wonder that there's
no cache here yet. Over the years there have been many nefarious
things that have happened in this place. There have also been
several covens that have met here, amoung other things. In the
daytime however, it's quite a pleasent place to visit, at
least for me. I have enclosed some pics of the cemetary. I will
also be informing the NorthWest Ohio Spirit Quest Geocachers of
this one, as there are multiple headstones kicked over and piled
under trees here, leaving multiple graves unmarked. This place
needs some TLC and respect. It is our hope that some nice cachers
will help bring reverance and peace to calm the restless spirits in
this area. The cache is a 30 cal. ammo box hidden within the
graveyard. I'd love to see some pictures of other cachers that
visit the area! One of my caching friends, DewDrops, who lives
there in Ohio, will be helping me keep an eye on the cache. Good
luck and BE CAREFUL!
Update: Winter seems to have made this cache much more
visable due to the missing leaves. The thorns however, still stand
gaurd to protect this casche.
