Welcome to Creekwood Park. This section of the park was established
in 1996 with an additional acre acquired in 1999. The site features
Honey Creek winding through a wooded area (and how the park got
it's name). Fall 2004/Spring 2005 saw the playground equipment
installation and the picnic gazebo.
There are actually two trails in this park - Cottonwood and
Creekwood. This cache is located off the original Cottonwood Trail
which was constructed in 1997 by a local Boy Scout troop.
For safety purposes, I wanted to note here that the other cache
is located off the new Creekwood Nature Trail. It is NOT possible
to follow the Cottonwood Trail to reach the Creekwood Nature Trail.
You can find safe passage to the other side of Honey Creek near the
new parking area - if you come back out of the Cottonwood Trail and
walk past the playground equipment you will see the other woodchip
trail to follow.
This section of the park has been home to several other
geocaches so it is possible this trail will look familiar.
No restrooms, no bubbler or other water source as this is a
neighborhood park.
Messa (my 9 year old niece who geocaches) really wanted there to
be a "kid friendly" cache in this park because she loves the new
playground equipment especially the climbing wall. So, Messa, this
one is for you! This is a regular camo'ed ammo box loaded with
goodies for trading. Please trade fair or trade up but please do
not clean out the goodies. The cache is located off the trail a
short bit, some bushwhacking may be required. PLEASE, no after
hours searches and PLEASE cover it completely as another cache that
had been in this section of the park had gone muggled.
City of Greenfield Park hours are sunrise until 10 PM so no after
hours searches please. I highly discourage after dark searches for
this one due to the neighbors who watch over this park.
9/30/05 Cache has been moved, very slightly, to help provide
better cover - the coordinates have been adjusted.
Placed with the knowledge of the City of Greenfield Parks
Supervisor.
