Geocache Description:

Ute Council Trees in Delta, Colorado

This is a three-stage cache. First, go to the coordinates, look at the really old cottonwood tree, and note the year of the tree's birth. You'll use this for the latitude.
Next, go to 38 degrees 45.066 minutes, 108 04.633, look at the sculpture of the tree, and note the date between the title and artist. You'll use this for the longitude.
The coordinates of the physical cache are 38 45.XYZ, 108 04.ABC where
A = 2nd digit of sculpture year
B = 1st digit of sculpture year
C = last digit of sculpture year
X = last digit of tree's birth year
Y = sum of the first 2 digits in the tree's birth year
Z = sum of the last 3 digits in the tree's birth year divided by two
The physical cache started out small, was stolen, was a small ammo box placed in a new location December 15, 2007, stolen again, and replaced February 8, 2009 with a plastic soy butter jar. The original cache contained log pages, 2 pencils, Council Tree poem, and assorted coins with nickel and plant themes plus a Mississippi quarter to honor the victims of Hurricane Katrina. Please leave the poem for others to read... I will look for another copy of the poem; right now there isn't one in the cache.
