Loyalhanna Nature Trail Multi-Cache

This cache has been archived.

Sam and Jess: Although the access ramp appeared to be the only damaged portion of the bridge, the owners of the bridge decided to remove the bridge entirely. It was a nice attraction and fun for young and old. We've attached a few photos of what the site looks like now. Thanks to all who visited and left nice reviews and comments.

Geocache Description:

We were looking for new local caches and realized that there appear to be no caches in Ligonier. So, we made a phone call and got permission to place our very first cache along the Loyalhanna Nature Trail. Park in the trail parking lot N 40 14.804 / W 79 14.781 located just off Route 30 East on the right side of the highway. If you get to the traffic light at Giant Eagle you passed up the parking lot. This is a nice trail along the Loyalhanna Creek and it is a very popular area for fishermen. The creekside trail will take you to a point where Mill Creek joins the Loyalhanna Creek. The coordinates will take you to the first stage micro (a small medicine bottle wrapped in black tape). It is tethered to its hiding spot so please rehide it well. Use the coordinates from the micro to complete your hike (we suggest using the trail to the left) to the final stage, which is a Planters Peanut Container. Watch for “muggles” especially during early fishing season. We recommend bug repellent during hot weather and there is some poison ivy along the trails. We made sure that the areas for the caches were not in poison ivy. This area is also susceptible to flooding during EXTREME storm conditions and heavy spring thaws. There is also a suspension foot bridge that crosses the Loyalhanna Creek that was a lot of fun to cross.
