Geocache Description:

An interesting mostly uphill hike will bring you to a nice view and also the cache. No need to go cross-country or do any bush-whacking. In fact, the Anacortes Community Forest Land (ACFL) management discourages such practices to protect the resource. Use of the Whistle Lake Area Trail System map is encouraged, and can be purchased at the Anacortes Chamber of Commerce, or most nearby sporting goods stores.

WE found that the best time to approach this viewpoint is just before sunset. Burrows and Allen Islands can be seen along with distant Lopez, which make for a nice sunset photo. One land feature is distinctly missing from view, this the cache title. What is it? Aside from its shoreline, can this body of water be seen from any overlook on Fidalgo Island? If you know where, please e-mail us the answer. (not necessary for credit)

A precipitous cliff is located just below the viewpoint.
The best route to the cache proceeds from the parking area located at N 48 deg. 28.435 min.; W 122 deg. 37.582 min.

WARNING: As you approach the cache, be especially careful, and keep kids back and away. We upped the terrain rating to account for this.

The cache is a medium round plactic lock'n'lock covered with decaying wood chunks. It contains an item that matches the title, and a logbook. After signing, please leave both items in the container for the next cacher. Bring small trade items., and please, recover cache with the wood chunks.

Happy Hunting.
