Dutch Pioneers Mystery Cache

While Geocaching.com would like to continue to hold the location for you, doing so blocks other cachers from placing caches in the area. We feel that this cache has been disabled for a period of time exceeding what is reasonable for the area, and thus I regretfully must archive it.

If you are able to get out and replace the cache, simply drop me a note and let me know the GC waypoint number of the cache or better yet, the URL of the cache page. I will be more than happy to take a look at it to see if it is still is within the guidelines of the Geocaching.com website for cache placement and posting.

Geocache Description:


To find this cache you will have to do some math.

This coordinates will take you to a very little know about cemetery known as East Holland Cemetery. In this cemetery you will find the final resting place of some of the early Holland pioneers and settlers. There are many stones that show the early 1900’s as the date of death. I found one that was 1882 as a date of death. There may be some earlier. Many of the epitaphs are written in the Netherlands Dutch language which I am not able to read. We hope you will find this cemetery as interesting as we did.

The coordinates will take you to a tombstone for Agnes. To solve the puzzle and find the cache you will need to find two dates.
AA = The day (date) Agnes was born
DD = The day (date) Agnes died

To compute the final North coordinates use N42 45.973 where BB represents the unknown, N42 45.9BB
N42 45.973 - (AA x 2) +1 =.0BB

To compute the final West coordinates use W086 02 594 where YY represents the unknown, W86 02.6YY.
W 086 02.594 + (DD x 2) = .0YY

(Remember your basic Algebra and solve the problem within the parenthesis first)
