Geocache Description:

NOTE; NEW LOCATION FOR THE CACHE IN THE PARK. Former spot was muggled!

Stop by the site of the great flood of April 23, 2001, at Ravine Park where there are several giant remnant pines of the logging era.

The first settlers came to the Lake Nebagamon area in 1894. The road up the hill leads to Camp Nebagamon for Boys. The “Big House” at the camp was the home of Philip Weyerhaeuser, son of lumber baron, Fredrick Weyerhaeuser. Logging of white pine in the late 1890’s and early 1900’s produced millions of board feet of lumber and ravaged area forests. On April 23, 2001, a heavy rainstorm on top of recent snowmelt turned the ravine into a raging waterway that washed out the road and damaged several cabins as it flowed to the lake.

The cache contains a log book and pencil for signing, and small items to trade. Please replace cache as found with camouflage. Thanks!
