Hidden Treasures of North Florida:
Historic Evinston Post Office

Background:

Cross Creek and Evinston are small towns where the ambience and traditional rural way of life of North Florida are still alive; Cross Creek is the site of the historic home of writer Marjorie Kinnan Rawlings; The Evinston Post Office still operates out of the 1882 General Store, which sells local vegetables on a daily basis. A “Paint Out” conducted by The Artists Alliance of North Florida in April 2006 will feature 50 of Florida's finest plein air artists working on location; funds raised will go toward the historic preservation of the Evinston Post Office & General Store.
