HIGH PLAINS DRIFTER. This is the real-life story of a High Plains Drifter who came to the small desert town of Deming, New Mexico. Raised in a middle-class family back in the MidWest, the Drifter had the urge to get out into the world and see many places. He enjoyed the freedom of traveling so much that he rarely returned, even though most of the time he was without money or home. For all the time he was gone, his family did not ever know he lived on the streets. Indeed, he kept this part of his life secret from them. Although he never had any real money to speak of, his life experiences made the Drifter a rich man. He finally settled into living in Deming during his last few years, which were not kind to him.
He took his own life in Deming on September 12, 2002.
You will be in a cemetery of sorts while you visit this cache, for it is here that his ashes were scattered to the Four Winds, which still carry him today. If you listen closely, you may hear him traveling on his way, through these favorite mountains of his that he once pointed out to me when I saw him last. This cache is placed in memory of him.
I will miss him very much.
Please remember to trade kindly.
My personal thanks to GeoJo&Wild_Willy, local contacts for this cache.
Good luck, geocacher.
