Geocache Description:

BookCrossing cache containing books for exchange. In a Fairfax County public bike trail system, however, must be able to navigate severely broken trail.

This cache is a book-only exchange site that is part of the international BookCrossing network. The container is a water-tight ammo box that will accept books up to 11" tall and 7" across. I placed five "starter" books in the cache, and ask that if you choose to take a book, that you swap out book-for-book to keep the cache active and fresh. Below is information about how to register books you leave and books you take... if you so choose.

Each book originally included in this cache has been registered on www.bookcrossing.com and assigned a unique ID number you'll find in the front of the book. If you choose, please go to the BookCrossing web site to record your "find" for each book you take so other BookCrossers can watch online while the book "travels". If you wish, you may register any books you plan to leave at the cache before you head out to find it...

If you'd rather not register books you plan to leave, I've left pre-numbered BrookCrossing ID stickers in the container for you to use, just take a sticker off the sheet and put it inside the front cover when you leave the book in the cache. I'll be visiting the cache based on your GeoCache "find" logs and take care of the registration for you. I don't want anything to discourage you from sharing books through this cache... so don't feel guilty if you leave a book without registering it first... it's easy for me to do.

Regardless if you register the books or not, pls record the titles of books you take in the cache's log book so other cachers know what happened to a book they were hoping to find there after you snatched it up ahead of them :-)

GeoCaching and BookCrossing are such natural partners for a hobby... I hope you enjoy finding this cache as much as I have placing it.

Adopter's note: The preceeding is the original cache description. The cache makes use of natural camoflage to both conceal it and keep it from migrating. It should not be left in the open - please replace it as found and make sure the lid seals properly to keep water out. It helps if you seal each book individually in a ziploc bag and check the seals carefully.

The cache is hidden near the remnants of a bridge that used to cross the creek. If you approach from the west, you will need to ford the creek. If you use the supplied parking coordinates you won't have to cross the creek. The terrain rating reflects the torn-up nature of the trail as well as the area around the cache.
