Geocache Description:

Blanks + Postage

Welcome to the only (that I know of) Grateful Dead music trading cache. I think that this cache will appeal to serious "Deadheads" as well as others who have never been exposed to their music

The Grateful Dead always allowed folks to record their live shows and encouraged sharing as long as there was no profit motive involved. Many different distribution formats were created, with the most popular being a person with duplication equipment offering copies of concerts for "Blanks + Postage".  The way that this worked was that this kind soul would make anywhere from one to a dozen sets of tapes and then offer them to whomever wanted them asking only for "blanks" (tapes) + "postage" (usually in the form of a stamped, self addressed envelope).

Currently there are many sources for these concerts on the internet, but they all require a high speed connection and varying levels of experience with converting different file formats to a "listenable" CD.

At the "Blanks + Postage" cache, I've tried to make obtaining this music a little less difficult with the added benefit of adding a cache to your list of finds :)

This cache contains several copies of a specific concert.  Each concert will typically be a 3 CD set that has been selected for it's set list, sound quality and all around listenability. As the CD's are depleted I will replace them with other concerts I have selected. If you choose to pick up the current offering, I ask that you leave a set of 3 blank CD's in either CD envelopes of jewel cases. Other welcomed items would be your own concert recordings as well as any other Grateful Dead "stuff" i.e. stickers, ticket stubs and other doo-dads.

The current offering is listed below.

#1 (Placed Sept '05)- Warfield Theater in San Francisco, CA- Recorded Sept 29th, 1980
