As a 'Lord of the Rings' fan, I think I, now, know how Bilbo
felt when he had to pass the ring along to Frodo.... I suspect that
some people that do this cache may feel they have traveled to Mt.
Doom and back also.
PLEASE, READ THE CACHE DESCRIPTION CAREFULLY AND ADHERE TO THE
GUIDELINES.
The purpose of this cache is to feel the thrill of finding and
logging a Moun10Bike coin. Here’s the deal. In this cache you will
find a Moun10Bike coin that is ready to be logged. There is a catch
of course, actually four of them.
- To log this coin you need to be the first one to remove it from
the cache and be willing to follow the rules below.
- If you remove it from the cache, you then need to hide a new
cache within 30 days, that contains the Moun10Bike coin you
removed.
- Name your cache, “My First Moun10Bike Coin #___”. For the
number, just keep them chronological in order of caches
created.
- You may only log this coin if you have never logged a
Moun10Bike coin before. If you’ve already logged a coin you can
still log the cache, just not the coin.
Let’s just get as many first-time loggers as we can. Post these
guidelines in your cache’s description.
My goals for this cache are this;
- I can log my first Moun10Bike coin
- Many other cachers can do the same
- We can keep a Moun10Bike coin moving around while creating more
great caches!
It’s win, win people!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The temptation may be great to take the coin for yourself, or to
log another one to your credit, but please let many of us know what
it feels like to find this rare and exciting piece of caching
memorabilia for the first time. Enjoy logging your first Moun10Bike
coin.
NOW FOR THE CACHE:
This cache is located in Riverside State Park.
Park hours are 6:30 to dusk.
Because of the difficulty of the cache I don't recommend it for
children or dogs, also please don't try it after dark.
I liked the last G & T cache so well, I borrowed their idea.
This cache is a simple 2 part multi. The first waypoint is a micro
with coordinates to the final. In this case however the first
waypoint is much farther from the parking lot.
There are three possible parking areas; the Bowl and Pitcher,
the Bowl and Pitcher Overlook, and the Centenial Trail parking at 7
Mile. If you are dashing for the coin I would recommend parking at
the closest spot. I believe the time spent driving to what you
think might be a closer parking area will be greater than any extra
time spent on the trail.
The round trip to the cache and back will be about 4 miles +/-. A
mountain bike would be a big advantage on this cache (seems
appropriate) even though you will have to do the last several
hundred feet to the final on foot.
Be careful approaching the final. I have rated this cache 4 stars
for terrain. If you pick the wrong approach you could easily turn
it into a 5 star cache.
The original contents of the cache include: a Moun10Bike Coin, a
USA Geocoin, two WJTBs, a YJTB, the Propeller TB, the Sgt. footTRAX
TB, and an Oregon Geocoin. For trade items there are some
Geocaching key chains, refrigerator magnets, and buttons. I have
also included some signature 'finders' items for the cache. They
are there as momentos of your visit. All finders are welcome to
take one even without a trade.
Note: As of about April of 2006 the $5.00 parking fee has been
removed.
Thanks, Cacheper for creating this cache series. I know I will
never forget opening the cache and finding my first Moun10Bike
Coin! Thanks!!!
