Geocache Description:

Come to the first Geocaching event at the Minna Anthony Common Nature Center. We want to introduce new cachers to this great pasttime. We hope to see you there.

Remember to bring a lunch!

10:00 - 10:45 indoor introduction to Geocaching.
1) What is Geocaching?
2) Using a GPS
3) The Geocache website
4) How to get started searching
5) Geocaching etiquette, park rules...
10:45 - 11:00 Break
11:00 - 12:00 searching for geocaches at the nature center.
12:00 - 1:00 Brown Bag lunch and sharing geocache experiences.
1:00 - 3:30 Looking for Nature Center Geocaches (established ones) with or without experienced assistance.

We are planning contests/drawings to test your abilities. We are looking for people who wouldn't mind helping out new cachers or interested muggles. When you post your note for attendance, please let us know if you can accompany someone else and/or have extra Gpsr's or if you are bringing new cachers who haven't registered on the GC.com site. You don't have to help out to attend.
I know that gas is high, but there are 7 permanent caches (I know there are currently 6, but the 7th will be active by then) within 1.5 miles and there will be several temporary caches for the event. So there will be lots to do and many people to meet.

This is a work in progress, so make sure to add it to your watch list to see when I make updates.

This cache is located in the Minna Anthony Common Nature Center of Wellesley Island State Park.
Some basic rules of the park are:
1) No bicycles or motor vehicles are allowed on the trails,
2) Please stay on the trails (no bushwacking), do not stray from the paths, (none of these will take you near or over an edge),
3) This is a carry-in/carry out park,
4) Dogs must be on a 6 ft leash and have proof of current rabies vaccination,
5) All caches are within 20' of trails.

Trail Hours are Dawn to Dusk
Minna Anthony Common Nature Center Museum Hours are 10 am-4 pm.

There is a $2 toll for the 1000 Islands Bridge for anyone not living on Wellesley Island. The park entrance fee will not be collected for this event.
