The tiny car-free island of Easdale lies in the Firth of Lorn, off the west coast of Argyll, Scotland. It has much to offer the short or long term visitor. Have a walk around and enjoy the tranquility of this distinctive island. A stroll to the top of the 122ft high hill offers unrivalled views of the Firth of Lorn to the north and many other islands to the south. The shoreline offers the opportunity for beachcombing or soaking up the fresh Atlantic air. Other areas of interest include the historical remains of what was once the centre of the Scottish slate mining industry. The still pools, which are a defining feature of Easdale, were once active slate quarries, and together with the wide variety of flora and bird life make Easdale unique.
The island is reached by making a five minute passenger ferry crossing, and visitors will feel immediately welcome amongst the small thriving community which occupies the former slate quarriers' cottages. Easdale is also perfectly situated for exploring the surrounding district with its many attractions and activities.
The starting point is at the ferry slip on the island. From there, you will see a telephone box, the number of windows on it =E. Now make your way to a football field (N56 17.492 W05 39.395) where you will find a sign post. The last digit in the number of miles to Dallas =D, and the first digit in the number of feet to the bar =C. Go to N56 17.490 W05 39.395. Go along the path till you come to a causeway between two slate quarries. Keep a hold of your children (if any) as you admire the all-right view...
Go along the same path to N56 17.579 W05 39.657. You will find yourself at the start of a path going up the hill. Take this path up to N56 17.539 W05 39.557. This spot commands the best panoramic view on the island. The number of miles to Malcolm's Point on the Isle of Mull + the number of miles to South Cuan on Isle of Luing =AB. When you are done, go back down the way you came.
Things needed for the G and H clues have been changed/removed. We will find new ones soon, but in the meantime, they are: G=6, H=7. Sorry for any inconvenience!
The final position is at N56 AB.CD0* W05 ED.GHH
