The Whoop up trail came into existence in the late 1880’s. This
trail served as a link between Fort Benton and Fort McLeod, Canada.
Mule team freighters traveled the trail carrying trade goods by
wagon, which were shipped by steamboat up the Missouri River to
Fort Benton. Located in north central Montana, this spot is one of
the last remaining places which bear the tracks of the wagons. This
small cache contains log, pencil and numerous small trading
items.
