Cache is accessed via Yachats River Road. Travel 7 miles up river, cross the concrete bridge and turn right. Another 2 miles and you will turn onto Keller Creek Road. Go 1/4 mile on Keller Creek Road to a nice little picnic area (USFS).
My dad (dufursduffur) and I decided to place a cache near this great little picnic area after finding two nearby caches (CARSON and Little Red Bridge).
Original container was a small margarine tub but will soon be replaced with ammo box. DONE 10/13/05!!
Your goal lies 27 paces at 140 degrees Azimuth (true) from the Red Jacket.
[Edited to add definition of pace: A pace (or double-pace) is a measure of distance used by Ancient Rome. It is the measure of a full stride from the position of the heel when it is raised from the ground to the point the heel is set down again at the end of the step. In Rome this was standardized as about five Roman feet or 58.1 English inches.]
We foresters (dad and I both got our forestry degrees from Washington State University - go COUGS!)always measure walking distances in terms of paces.
No need for bushwacking or getting wet. Check out the interesting sandstone formations in the nearby creek beds.
