Comme nous ne pouvons être là pour GAG7, nous avons pensé placer une cache pour l'évènement pendant notre visite à Ottawa pour un tournoi de cartes la semaine dernière. La cache est un petit contenant camo placé près du Musée canadien des civilisations à Gatineau au Québec.
Ceci est une multi-cache qui devrait vous prendre entre 30 et 45 minutes une fois sur le site. Il n'y a pas beaucoup de stationnement gratuit dans le coin, alors vous devrez calculer un délai pour marcher si vous cherchez un stationnement gratuit dans les rues avoisinantes.
Note: Le signal GPS n'était pas très précis sur la place à l'extérieur du musée. Les descriptions devraient être assez claires pour vous aider à trouver les indices quand même. Toutefois, si vous obtenez des relevés plus précis pour les WP1 à 3 n'hésitez pas à l'inscrire dans vos entrées et nous les utiliserons pour améliorer la moyenne. Merci!
WP1: Les coordonnées postées sont celles du waypoint1. Qu'est-ce que la partie du numéro de l'adresse de l'immeuble à proximité? Prenez un cinquième de ce nombre.
WP2: Rendez-vous aux coordonnées suivantes: N45 25.837 W075 42.586 Vous trouverez une borne-fontaine. Combien de lettres sont dans le premier mot de la borne-fontaine?
WP3: Rendez-vous aux coordonnées suivantes: N45 25.788 W075 42.517 Un écriteau à cet endroit annonce un type de jardin. Quel est le nombre de lettres dans le type précis de jardin (en anglais) que l'on peut accéder par les escaliers se trouvant ici.
WP4: Vous devez maintenant vous diriger vers le hall d'entrée du musée. L'accès au musée en dehors des halls d'exposition est gratuit. L'horaire détaillé se trouve ici. Une forme de transport utilisée pour l'exploration du continent est présentée de façon proéminente au dessus du guichet principal. Combien d'animaux et combien de pieds peuvent être dénombrés dans la présentation? Faites la somme des deux chiffres pour obtenir la réponse du WP4
WP5: Passé le guichet principal, sur le haut du mur à votre gauche près de l'endroit du musée des Enfants, se trouve un message d'accueil multilingue. En combien de langues est-ce que "Bienvenue" est écrit?
WP6: Avant le entrée du théâtre Imax une couche de bronze des armes peut être trouvé. Trouver la racine numérique de la ville que ce armoiries fois appelé à la maison.
WP7: Retournant maintenant vers l'entrée du musée, les halls d'expositions se trouvent à gauche de l'entrée. Du haut des escaliers roulants, vous pouvez observer une série de totems en bas au niveau des halls d'exposition. Celui qui présente le plus gros bec d'oiseau est le totem du Chef Waka. VOUS N'AVEZ PAS BESOIN DE DESCENDRE AU NIVEAU DES HALLS D'EXPOSITION POUR L'IDENTIFIER. Les visages sur ce totem racontent comment les êtres humains ont acquis les danses, les chants et les masques du cérémonial d'hiver. Notez dans quelle direction le totem du Chef Waka fait face. Transformez cette direction en chiffre selon: E=2, N=4, S=6, O=8
Additionnez les réponses à WP1+WP2+WP3, multiplier par 100 et insérez un point pour former un nombre dans le format x.xxx. Ajoutez ensuite les réponses à WP1+WP4+WP5+WP6 +WP7, multiplier par 100 et insérez un point pour former un nombre dans le format y.yyy. Ajoutez x.xxx et y.yyy respectivement aux décimales de minutes de latitude et longitude de N45 21.142 W075 37.693 pour obtenir les coordonnées de la cache. Bon géocaching!

Since we cannot be there for GAG7, we thought we would place a cache for the event while visiting Ottawa for a card tournament the previous week-end. This cache is a small camo container placed near the Museum of Civilisation in Gatineau, Québec.
This is a multi-cache that should take you between 30 and 45 minutes once arrived in site. There is not much free parking in the area, so expect to add time for walking if you search for free parking in the side streets.
Note: The GPS signal was not that good on the plaza outside the museum. The descriptions should be clear enough to let you find the clues anyway. However, if you get more precise coordinates, please post them in your log entries and we will use them to better the averages. Thanks!
WP1: The posted coordinates are those for waypoint 1. What is the number portion of the street address of the nearby building? Take a fifth of this number.
WP2: Go to the following coordinates: N45 25.837 W075 42.586 You will find a standpipe. How many letters are in the first word on the standpipe?
WP3: Go to the following coordinates: N45 25.788 W075 42.517 A sign at this location announces a type of garden. What is the number of letters in the precise type of garden (in English) that can be accessed by stairs at this location?
WP4: You need now to enter the lobby of the museum. Entrance to the museum outside the exhibition areas is free. The opening hours are detailed here. One of the forms of transportation used to explore the continent is prominently displayed over the box office. How many animals and feet can you count in the display? Sum both numbers to get the WP4 answer.
WP5: Passing the box office, up on the wall on your left near the entrance to the Children's museum is found a multi-lingual greeting. In how many languages is "welcome" displayed?
WP6: Before the entrance to the Imax theatre a bronze coat of arms can be found. Find the digital root of the city that this coat of arms once called home.
WP7: Going back to the entrance of the museum, the exhibition halls are found to the left of entrance. From the top of the escalators, you can see a series of totem poles down on the exhibition floor. The one having the biggest bird beak is Chief Waka's Pole. YOU DO NOT NEED TO GO DOWN TO THE EXHIBITION FLOOR TO IDENTIFY IT. The figures on it evoke the story of how human beings acquired the dances, songs and masks of the winter ceremonial. Note the direction in which Chief Waka's Pole faces. Transform the direction according to: E=2, N=4, S=6, W=8
Add the answers to WP1+WP2+WP3, multiply the sum by 100 and insert a dot to form a number in the format x.xxx. Then add the answers to WP1+WP4+WP5+WP6 +WP7, multiply the sum by 100 and insert a dot to form a number in the format y.yyy. Add x.xxx and y.yyy respectively to the decimal minutes of latitude and longitude of N45 21.142 W075 37.693 to obtain the cache's coordinates. Good caching!
