The Grassy Hill hiking trail system is a brand new set of trails in
the 1,295 acre Grassy Hill Natural Area Preserve. The area was
established in 1998 with the purpose of protecting rare plants and
habitat. Be gentle in your travels here. No bikes are allowed. The
slope trail takes you from the parking lot to the ridge where there
are two loop trails connected by a short link. Altogether there are
over 6 miles of newly developed hiking trails here.
This cache is located on the Grassy Hill Slope Trail (moderate,
no cliffs to climb or serious uphill sections) and is about 15 or
20 minutes up the trail from the parking lot. Don't be tempted to
approach the cache from Rt. 919. Use the parking lot at the CATSE
center across the street from the YMCA on Technology Drive.
WARNING: There are rocks here, so be very careful scrambling
around among them. You DO NOT have to go down to the creek; the
cache isn't far off the trail.
