Skogen # 10 - Danish Memoir Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

Makuta Teridax: Hi

While I feel that Geocaching.com should hold the location for the cache owner and block other cachers from placing a cache in the area around this cache for a reasonable amount of time, we can’t do so forever.

Due to lack of response from the owner, this cache is now archived, so that someone else can place a cache in the area, and geocachers can once again enjoy visiting this location. Also, if it hasn’t been done already, please pick up any remaining cache bits as soon as possible.

If the owner wants it reopened, send me an e-mail and I’ll be happy to unarchive the cache listing if it still satisfies the requirement/guidelines.

(This reviewer note is in English so non-Norwegian cache owners, geocachers and cache reviewers can understand what it says.)

Thanks for your understanding,
Makuta Teridax

Geocache Description:

Close to Holmenkollen Chapel. Child friendly, all year awailable. Due to heavy logging in the summer of 2008 - this cache has been unavailable for a while. A new cache has now been installed. Morsom artikkel om monumentet i Skiforeningens medlemsblad Snø&Ski 2001 nr. 3 s. 58-59.

The Holmenkollen chapel burnt down in 1992. It was rebuilt in the same, old style. It's a very popular place for weddings and other clerical occasions.

Close to Holmenkollen chapel, there's a stone B monument. Perhaps not as impressive as Stonehenge, but with some resemblance. One might wonder why this monument has been raised?

The monument was raised in memory of a Danish tourist, who died here in a blizzard. He had followed the ancient path, before the road to Frognerseteren was constructed. The monument was restored by the Oslo skogvesen in 1980.

NB! In the cache, you will find the coords for the mysterycahche geocache Skogen # 11 - Anne Kures Secret , which is placed less than 1 km away. If you will try to find this cache by foot, just follow along the dirtroad to traihead at N 59 58.006 E 010 39.894. Turn to the right and follow blue-marked trail - turvei A5, also known as Harsheim-løypa.
