Geocache Description:

The 2005 MiGO Fall Fun Day theme was "Tour D' Midland" and took cachers to 18 parks throughout Midland. This is "Tour D' Midland - the abbreviated version". 4 stops in parks I particularly enjoyed discovering.

Last stop on our tour is Chippewassee park.

There are over 80 parks in the city of Midland, of all types -- large and small, open playgrounds and undeveloped wooded areas. The Midland City Parks Dept "Passport To Parks Guidebook" has details of all the parks and their locations. It is available online in 4 pdf files on their home page:

From the "Passport to Parks" guidebook:
Chippewassee Park
Located west of the confluence of the Tittabawassee and Chippewa rivers, on Asheman St. Access is available by crossing the Tridge.

Chippewassee Park is a 35 acre recreational area that has something for everyone. In the winter months it is a great place for cross-country skiing, sledding and ice fishing on the surrounding Tittabawassee and Chippewa rivers. During warm weather, the park is quite popular due to the large picnic shelter (available for reservation), picnic tables, grills, play equipment, extensive fitness course, open fields and paved trails. Chippewassee Park is known for its festivals and events helpd during the summer. Each Thursday night beginning at 7:00pm listeners are treated to the sounds of Tunes by the Tridge. This weekly concert series features bands of various genres playing next to the Farmers' Market. This park hosts the Riverdays festival and is a favorite location to watch Midland's fireworks on the fourth of July. Chippewassee is also home to Trilogy Skate Park and has a brand-new, extensive dog park.
