This cache, that holds some small swag and a log book, is located
on a rocky outcrop that has a fantastic view to the south. Bring a
picnic lunch and spend some time here enjoying the view.
Nearby, at approximately N32° 42.612 W116° 48.914, you will find
the remains of a rock wall/dam and some water-smoothed rocks. It is
worth checking out.
Access to the cache is from a narrow, 5-mph dirt road called
Daley Truck Trail. It goes south off Lyons Valley Road at N32°
43.379 W116° 48.725. There is a place to park at N32° 42.732 W116°
48.969 before you get to a gate that has a "No Trespassing"
sign.
EDIT: The last time I was in the area, the trail I describe
in the original description, has been blocked with fencing. A short
distance from the trail, you can still crawl through the
fence.
The first part of the trail, which starts at N32°
42.719 W116° 48.968, is used by horses and it is narrow and
eroded.
Once you get past that first bit, the trail is wide and easy to
walk or ride a mountain bike on.
At the cache location, please be very careful. The rocks drop
off very abruptly on the side opposite from the trail. I do not
recommend trying this cache at night. Please watch out for
snakes.
