The first thing you have to do to find this cache is learn to identify poison wood, a plant, tree, scrub that is similar to poison ivy or oak. There is a sign in the parking lot telling about it and it is in front of a small poison wood plant. It is easy to avoid on the path, as long as you know what it looks like. The co ordinates of the parking lot are 24 42 570 N and 81 22 951W.
This is the Jack C. Watson wildlife trail, it is a loop trail, 2/3 of a mile and it is worth it to take the whole path. Start on the right side of the path, don’t go cross-country to the cache, take the path. There are lots of signs identifying trees and animals. It is a very nice example of a Florida Keys hard wood hammock. The cache is 23 yard off the path and there are 2 thatch palm sentinels on the path where you turn off.
Also worth the walk, since you are already here, is the wheelchair path. It is a nice short walk that ends in a deck with benches over looking a small wetlands area.
The cache contents are conch shell, lace, pewter mermaid, compass, 2 dice, bottle opener, compact mirror, skateboard, plastic pumpkin, assorted shells & beads, mini gourd and an angel to protect the cache. Also included is the Lovebug travel bug, which was found in upstate NY.
