In 1982 Dr. Stephen Falken
created a computer system for the American and NATO allies’
nuclear defense. The system was called War Operation Planned
Response or W.O.P.R for short. Dr. Falken affectionately
referred to his computer as Johsua.
In 1983 just after W.O.P.R. came on
line the system was hacked by a young man by the name of David
Lightman. When David hacked the system he thought that he was
breaking into the game division of a software manufacture. When
asked if he wanted to play a game he choose “Global Thermonuclear
War.” Unknowingly, David nearly started World War Three.
Because of that incident Joshua was
taken off line and disconnected from the entire nuclear arsenal of
the United States. However, I was luck enough to find out where the
W.O.P.R. was being stored and have managed to bring it back online.
But because of the situation created by David Lightman, I’ve
restricted access to only one game.
You are playing on a city size
board. You will play against W.O.P.R. and see just who is smarter.
The game board is a grid of equal size and each move is uniform in
distance. You move first and start at the located noted above. At
this location you will find a clue for your first move and it will
provide the insight for the size and geographical layout of each
playing grid.
Good Luck and may the best player
win.
