This cache brings you to the top of the second mountain and the ridge trail that circles the top.
The Sparta Glen Park is a spectacular jewel of a natural resource. The Township of Sparta is investing to bring it back to life after the historic floods of August 12, 2000 nearly wiped it out. These caches are designed to lead you along the trail system and so none are far off trail.
This cache leads you to the top of the second mountain. This trail was originally built by the local Boy Scout Troop but is a bit faint right now. Follow the trail around the summit and as you get close to the cache location head up a bit higher to another trail.
The cache itself is a large ammo can. It is filled with the usual goodies.
Just a quick good caching reminder, although this park is right in the heart of Sparta it is rugged. New Jersey has many bears and poisonous snakes, I have seen both in this park. Know what to do if you have an encounter and it won't be a problem but a great and rare experience. If you are caching alone make sure someone knows where you are going as cell phones don't always work back here.
