Geocache Description:

This hunt will take you into an area that is seldom traveled. Bring a compass - you'll need it! There's an old road with a pulloff under a big tree - looks like an old homesite. Park off the shoulder of the road there to begin.

This is no longer a multicache: Since someone ruined the first stage of this cache, I am temporarily directing cachers to the main stash, so go to the coordinates shown. It's a nice one; I'd like for it to get some activity until I can get the first stage back up and running. Enjoy!!!

Start at the listed coordinates. They will take you to a tree that is one of the oddest things I've seen in a long time - can't explain it, you've just gotta be there! At the tree you'll find a clue that will take you to the final cache - further proof that I'm nuts! At this point you'll need a compass and you'll need to know how to use it to take a bearing. Please put the clue back as it was found or better. Once you've walked the distance, start looking for typical cache hiding places. The hide isn't that difficult - it's the location that'll get you. And remember, you're in thick tree cover, so accuracy will be somewhat less than normal.

Look around while you're there. On the way in, on the left and barely up the ridge, is the old Dunlap place. Graves were placed in Dunlap Cemetery near here as early as the 1830s (the cemetery has disappeared). The house is a log cabin covered with lap siding, and out back is an obviously newer structure as well as an old livestock shed. You'll also find a sign for a cemetery along the way - that's Parker Cemetery. There are some very old graves there, and work has been done recently to help restore it.

Farther north and up the ridge we found a clearing of nothing but large ferns - beautiful!

You're looking for an ammo can. Original contents are: magnetic shopping list; smiley pellet puzzle; magic towel; double picture frame; Disney flying disc; light-up yoyo; mini playing cards; rubber snake; splash bomb ball; personal fan; Bobby F. TB with WriterGirl's signature hitchhiker; geodocument; log book; pencils (2); and FTF gift!

WARNINGS:
1) Parking or driving on unmarked roads is forbidden; those caught doing so are subject to a $500 fine. So just don't, okay?
2) As with my other caches, THERE IS NO NEED TO ENTER THE RUINS OF THE BUILDINGS, so PLEASE STAY OUT! They are dangerous!!!
3) There is a conspicuous absence of trash in the area. I will be watching; an increase in trash will result in the PULLING OF THIS CACHE! There are few areas so beautiful, untouched, peaceful, and unspoiled, and I will not be responsible for spoiling this one.
4) Anything found near ruins should be left there - it is against the law to remove these items (considered artifacts), so don't!
5) This cache lies in farmland; please follow edges of fields and do not destroy the farmers' crops.

Bottom line: Take only photos, leave only footprints. Enjoy the lovely environment, be responsible and respectful, have fun, and happy geocaching!

P.S. And don't be afraid to email for hints if you need 'em!

A special thank you to the original hiders WriterGirl and The Boatman for all their research and time spent creating and maintaining this cache over the years.
