Geocache Description:

Founding Father Trifecta / The Mount

Introduction. Hi, I am recognized as one of the Founding Fathers of this great country. As a young man I had many adventures in this land that you call your homestead. I enjoyed good fortune and experienced great difficulties in this amazing place where the rivers meet.

I would like to share with you some of my adventures in your land by taking you to places that recognize my contributions to history. Though as a trained surveyor, I was skilled in mapping a new land, I will use your modern tools of navigation to describe where my stories are told. There are two locations for which I will give you navigational coordinates (see Founding Father Trifecta/The Landing, and Founding Father Trifecta/Monuments and Codes). At each location you will be asked a question about my adventures. You should probably do some research ahead of time, as if you answer correctly, your time spent at this location will be brief. If you answer incorrectly, you will spend more time in your search. At both locations you will be given information that will help you determine the coordinates to the treasure that I have hidden for you at the cache described here. I have stocked the treasure chest full of items relating to me and the history of this land. If you would like to trade with items in the chest, please consider bringing items that relate to this adventure. Also, please be careful not to alarm the native people to this land (as you call them, "muggles") – they are all around the areas of our hunt. Good luck.

The Mount. The general location of your final hunt will be on the top of a Mountain named after me. Parking for this location can be found at N40°25.460, W079°59.632. Use the coordinates that you discovered from the Landing and Monuments and Codes caches. When you find the cache, notice that the bluff where you are standing is the same location where the Indians pictured in the Robert Griffing picture "In The Shadow of the King" as they were overlooking Fort Pitt prior to the beginning of the French and Indian War.

For the First To Find - I have placed a copy of my Journal. Please enjoy reading of my adventures in your area.

Good luck in finding the final cache of this three part series. I hope you have learned or enjoyed rediscovery some interesting history of the area you call home. In your travels I hope you will be good stewards of your land and keep it clean so that your children and grandchildren can enjoy it in the way you have.

Thanks

George W.
Your Humble Servant

BONUS CACHE. I have made a subtle historical or geographical error in the description or questions of each of the three Founding Fathers geocaches. Discover the three errors and email me your answer through the geocache.com web site. If you are correct on two or more, I will email you back the coordinates to a valuable bonus gift sponsored by the Pittsburgh Regional History Center.
