This climb up the hill will leave you breathless twice. Once from the climb and once from the view. It is strongly suggested that this site be visited on a clear calm, warm day. Be sure to bring your camera. It is a family-friendly "round trip" 5-10 min walk
The drive from Sandford to Port Maitland will take you along a dirt road, with a breathtaking view of the surf from what has been called High head. It is recommended that rather than park at the gravel pit, you park at the beach access road, being careful not to block the dirveway to the "round" house. The walk is much easier and much more beautiful. This is a small plastic box containing notebook, pencil, and instructions. It is stocked with a few treasures.
