Geocache Description:

Start at Silvermine West. The cache is hidden close to the second beacon. At the 2nd beacon there is a number "4" in the cement on top. Stand on the other side of the beacon from the "4". Line up the metal shaft and the "4". It will line up with a small balancing rock about 10 meters away. The cache is in a gap before the balancing rock.

This was an existing cache, the details of which I had printed out a while back. We found it easily, although it wasn't quite in the spot described. It was in a dreadful state so we removed the logbook which was a sodden slimy unreadable mess of mouldy paper mache, as were the playing cards. We cleaned up the golf ball, the pencil and the container and added a SA beaded flag, a spirit-level-keyring, a ball-point and a 1c coin (about to become a historical item!) These were left well-sealed in zip-lock bags and the cache placed in a spot fitting the original description in a spot well protected from rain. We didn't expect to need to replace the log book so there isn't one - could the next person to visit please take one! I have added this as a new cache as the original no longer appears to be listed. I think the google earth connection is fantastic! well done webmasters! PAR-3 Pam, Annya and Rob all together for once with Anna and Lucia and 4 eager canine helpers.
