Geocache Description:

Standard hand painted 30 cal ammo box

Round trip hike of about 5 miles. Head east on Mtn Loop Hwy to FS Rd 4060. Drive to the end to find Independance Lake trail # 712. Go around the left side of Independance Lake to the northern end. Find the North Lake trail sign deeply embedded in a tree on the right hand side of the hill. This trail will climb steeply for about 1300 ft. Along the way you will pass a short but huge twin topped Alaska cedar tree. I would estimate the base to be more than 12 foot in diameter. Look for fleeting glances of Mt. Baker in the distance. Work your way around the hill until you see North Lake about 600 ft below you. Trail can be tricky to find in some places with lots of roots and rocks to deter you. I left my sig coin for FTF
