The Woodway Witch Project (Night Cache) Mystery Cache

This cache has been archived.

M-T-P: Done, done doooonnnnnne. Done, done doooonnnnne. Done, done done. Done, done done. Done, done dooooooooonnnnnnnnnnnnne. (hummed to the tune of Taps)

This was an incredible fun cache to hide, but sadly this area has been discovered by muggles (vandals to be more precise). Shortly after every trip to repair the cache, it gets vandalized again. While at first I thought it could be the weather, unfortunately, this was not the case since at one point the vandals actually signed the log.

I would like to say a quick thanks to Cheyenne and David (part of the original hiders) and also Rod. These three have all made at least 2 or 3 trips out to the WWP with me to help repair and maintain this cache over the past year. It was a fun ride, but now must go away.

For any of you who have not yet found this cache, it will probably be another week or two before I can actually get back out there to pick up the remnants, so find it quick if you are going to!

Geocache Description:

This is a night only cache!  It will be virtually impossible to find successfully during daylight!  To find this cache, you must carefully follow these instructions and surviveDo NOT go alone!

Begin your hunt at night by parking near N 31° 30.506 W 097° 13.899. Then, follow your GPS and enter the woods towards the Faux Paux cache.  Using your flashlight, make your way down the slightly overgrown trail through spider webs and past the many strange noises coming from the trees around you.  Soon, you will come to an intersection in the trail.  This will be your last chance to turn back!  Any further and you will be too far away for anyone to hear your scream for help!

Those of you brave enough to continue will follow your GPS further into the dark woods down the main trail.  Eventually, you will reach the posted coordinates of the entrance to our path where you leave the safety of the main trail.  From this point forward, your GPS is of no further use to you!  You will soon realize exactly how very alone you really are...... or are you?

At this point, you will turn left and venture down this short winding trail with flashlights trying to ignore the voices you might hear coming from the trees around you.  Just pretend you don't see shadows of people standing behind you.  After you reach the abandoned cemetery in the clearing ahead, you must then turn off your flashlights and let your eyes adjust to the complete and total darkness that surrounds you.  Here, you must look for the light coming out of the woods near the edge of the cemetery. Only the bravest will walk toward the light.  The others will stay behind in the dark cemetery alone. Those that reach the light will find the cache container within three feet of the light.

Important Notice:  Pregnant women or anyone with heart conditions should NOT attempt to find this cache.  Those who startle, scare, or otherwise panic easily should likewise avoid this cache.  Parents should exercise caution when taking children along and should be prepared to leave children in the cemetery when approaching the cache container.  While there is no overt safety risk associated with this cache, the woods at night can be a very frightful place and this cache is specifically designed to heighten that fear.  Please be sure that all members of your caching party are aware of what lies ahead of them and do NOT go alone!  Parents of young children or those with medical or safety concerns should contact me via email for specific information related to this cache before attempting.

Light Information:  This cache relies on a solar powered light to guide you to the final location.  For this reason, it will be virtually impossible to find this cache during daylight hours.  Also, because of the rechargeable battery in this type of solar powered light, the light typically fades beginning around midnight - 1:00 am.  While the cache is still technically available at any time of day, it is best to attempt this cache within the first 4 hours after sunset.

Cache Contents:  This cache is full of plastic spiders, glow-in-the-dark spider rings, and a few glow sticks.  There is also a 2005 Texas Geocoin for FTF!

Please reset cache back exactly as found!
