Geocache Description:

PARKING: N47 35.636 W120 39.651

Most people know Leavenworth for its Bavarian-themed lodging, shopping, and seasonal festivals. Fewer know of the gem that sits at the heart of the city on what once was a mill for the Lamb Davis Lumber Company. In the center of this best kept secret is small but irresistible Blackbird Island. Three miles of trail wind along the Wenatchee River and through quiet riverbank forests that connect Riverfront Park, Blackbird Island, and Enchantment Park. There are benches for sitting and interpretive signs to explain the natural and cultural history of the area. Throughout the park there are small beach inlets that are perfect for swimming on hot summer days. This is also a great birding site in the Spring or a place to spot salmon making their upstream journey in the Fall.

The trail is about 3 miles round trip so plan for an hour walk, longer if you really want to enjoy the area and read all the signs. It is flat so you can just relax and enjoy the views. However, the cache is NOT placed at the end of the trail so you can make a quick grab if you are so inclined.
