This is a smallish wooden cashe container hidden just off an old
road near the Labrador City non-demoninational cemetary. Last 100
or so meters are a bit rough so drive slow if you have a car. It is
located near an area a lot of people are dying to visit. Small
trading items only, lapel pins, coins key fobs etc.
Labrador City is situated on the rich iron ore deposits of the
Labrador trough on the mainland portion of the province of
Newfoundland and Labrador, Canada. Early in the 196O's the town of
Labrador City was built to accommodate employees of the Iron Ore
Company of Canada and was incorporated in 1961.
Development of the area's impressive iron ore bed required
skilled workers. Good salaries and benefits and an excellent
quality of life lured individuals to what was in the early 196O's,
a truly remote region. People came from all over the world for what
they anticipated to be a year or two. Some forty years later, these
early pioneers have or are now approaching retirement and are
picking out a spot in this graveyard. With second and even third
generations residing in the region the town has come of age.
